SWISS MOBILE ROBOTICS CONSORTIUM  Motivation and Goals

In Europe, a few small companies started to address the mobile robotics industrial business. On the other hand, some initiatives at a European level try to coordinate the effort towards innovation in robotics. The European Robotics Network of Excellence (EURON) is gathering competences at an academic level. More recently, the industrial initiative called European Robotics Platform (EUROP) is building up a strategy for a new generation of robots collaborating with workers and moving out of the factory towards new service, security and space applications.

On a Swiss level, the Swiss Mobile Robotics Consortium aims to the following goals:

1. Enhance the visibility of the members on a national and international level.
2. Appear as a Swiss industrial group offering a wide range of robotics competences to the industry.
3. Actively promote the products and services of the consortium through a commercial representative.
4. Build strategic relationships to be strongly involved in the standardization of robotics (ISO, IEEE; political; academic).
5. Support the development of a mobile robotics industry supply chain.
